About Open Christian Press

Open Christian Press is the scholarly publishing arm of Open Christian University, co-published in partnership with the Center for Faith and Work. It publishes peer-reviewed journals, scholarly books, monographs, edited volumes, textbooks, professional resources and selected institutional publications.

The Press exists to support scholarship that is intellectually serious, ethically responsible, accessible to appropriate audiences and attentive to the relationship between knowledge, truth, human dignity and service.

Our publishing ecosystem

Journals

Peer-reviewed journals are managed through Open Journal Systems at journals.openchristian.education. Each journal maintains its own aims, scope, editorial team, policies, issues and submission pathway.

Books and monographs

Books are managed through Open Monograph Press at books.openchristian.education. The platform supports proposals, manuscript workflow, review, production, categories, series, formats and catalogue records.

Corporate and policy website

press.openchristian.education is the institutional gateway for the Press. It explains the publishing programmes, standards, services, governance and routes to the authoritative OJS and OMP records.

Our intellectual orientation

Open Christian Press is faith-informed and committed to biblical truth, but it does not regard Christian identity as permission for careless scholarship. Claims should be supported by relevant evidence, interpreted responsibly and expressed with humility. Where authors advance theological conclusions, Scripture should be handled in context and arguments should distinguish revelation, interpretation, inference and application.

The Press also welcomes scholarship that is not explicitly theological where it falls within the scope of a journal, book category or institutional project. Authors are not required to imitate a confessional vocabulary, but all work must meet the stated ethical and scholarly standards.

Our public responsibility

Publishing confers visibility and a measure of authority. The Press therefore seeks to avoid both uncritical gatekeeping and indiscriminate publication. Novel, minority or contested claims deserve fair examination, but publication requires more than sincerity. It requires disciplined reasoning, transparent sources, proportionate claims and a willingness to address relevant counter-evidence.

Publishing model

Open Christian Press combines open-access dissemination, print and digital distribution, persistent identifiers, structured metadata and appropriate editorial classification. Fees, where applicable, are disclosed and do not determine editorial outcomes.

Institutional identity

Open Christian Press is not a degree-awarding body. Academic awards, enrolment and university administration are managed by Open Christian University through its own institutional structures. The Press is responsible for publishing activities and the stewardship of its publication records.
