Not every book requires the same form of review. Open Christian Press therefore states the review status of every publication clearly. A scholarly monograph may undergo external peer review, while a professional handbook may undergo expert and editorial review. A ministry resource may receive theological and editorial assessment. A commissioned report may use a documented institutional review process.
No publication is described as peer reviewed unless it has completed an appropriate independent scholarly review process.
Depending on the publication agreement, books may be made available as open-access PDF or EPUB editions, print-on-demand editions, commercial electronic editions or a combination of formats. Open access is intended to widen lawful access, not to remove the author's moral rights or the publisher's responsibility for accurate edition control.
Each eligible format receives appropriate bibliographic identifiers. Separate formats or editions may require separate ISBNs, while the authoritative book record may receive a Crossref DOI. Chapter-level DOIs are used selectively, particularly for edited volumes whose chapters are intended for independent discovery and citation.
Prospective authors and volume editors should normally submit a proposal before uploading a complete manuscript. The proposal enables the Press to assess alignment, originality, audience, feasibility, scholarly contribution, competing works and the appropriate review pathway.
