Publishing and Production Services

Open Christian Press provides selected editorial, production and publishing support to universities, research centres, scholarly associations, conferences, ministries and mission-aligned organisations. Services are designed to strengthen the quality, clarity, discoverability and durability of legitimate scholarly and educational work.

Service provision is separate from editorial acceptance. Payment for editing, design, metadata or platform support does not guarantee publication in an Open Christian Press journal, book series or peer-reviewed programme.

Editorial development

Manuscript and proposal assessment

A structured diagnostic review of purpose, argument, audience, organisation, evidence, method, contribution and publication readiness. The assessment identifies priorities but does not promise acceptance by any journal or publisher.

Developmental editing

Substantive support for the architecture, progression and clarity of a book, report or long-form manuscript. Developmental editing may address chapter logic, repetition, conceptual gaps, argumentation, evidence and audience alignment while preserving authorial responsibility.

Copyediting and proofreading

Language, consistency, style, references, tables, figures and internal cross-references are reviewed at the agreed level. Proofreading focuses on final production errors after typesetting.

Book and document production

Services may include professional interior layout, cover preparation, front and back matter, accessible PDF preparation, EPUB conversion, print-readiness checks and coordination of corrections. Specifications should be confirmed before design begins, especially for print-on-demand platforms.

Journal and monograph-platform support

We may assist institutions with publishing workflow design, policy development, OJS or OMP configuration, role structures, submission guidance, issue or catalogue preparation, metadata quality and editorial training.

Technical hosting or software maintenance is offered only where expressly included in a written agreement.

Metadata and identifiers

Support may include metadata preparation, DOI deposit coordination, ISBN workflow guidance, ORCID and ROR integration, reference checking, citation information and repository deposit planning. Identifier assignment remains subject to the rules and authority of the relevant registration body.

Conference proceedings and institutional publications

Open Christian Press may support selected conference proceedings, policy reports, curriculum resources, research reports and commemorative scholarly works. The agreement must clearly distinguish editorial review, peer review, sponsorship, ownership and distribution.

Publishing training and capacity development

Workshops or consultations may address journal management, peer-review practice, publication ethics, academic writing, book development, metadata, open access, editorial governance and sustainable publishing workflows.

What our services do not include

We do not sell authorship, peer-review outcomes, citations, indexing, academic credentials or guaranteed publication. We do not promise that a journal or book will be accepted by an external database, retailer, university or regulator.

How engagements begin

1.   Submit an enquiry describing the work, audience, current stage, required outputs and desired timeline.

2.   The Press assesses fit, files, scope, risks and resource requirements.

3.   A written quotation or partnership proposal defines deliverables, responsibilities, exclusions, payment and revision limits.

4.   Work begins after written acceptance and receipt of any agreed deposit.
