At Open Christian Press, we deeply value the time, wisdom, and prayerful discernment that reviewers bring to our journals. Peer review is an essential act of academic service—a contribution that strengthens not only individual manuscripts but the entire scholarly community. We are committed to acknowledging this work in ways that reflect gratitude, integrity, and transparency.
Reviewers may request:
A formal certificate of review service, issued at the end of each calendar year or upon completion of a review.
A personalized letter of recognition, useful for academic or institutional records.
Listing on the journal’s website (with your consent), identifying you as part of our trusted reviewer community.
We understand that some reviewers may prefer to remain anonymous or unlisted, and we fully respect that choice.
While Open Christian Press is not a for-profit entity, a modest Article Processing Charge (APC) of $30 is requested for accepted manuscripts (except those exempted). For those manuscripts where the APC is collected, we joyfully implement a small benefit-sharing model as a token of gratitude:
25% of the APC will be allocated to the primary reviewer who submitted a timely and constructive review leading to acceptance.
25% of the APC will be allocated to the handling editor who oversaw the review, editorial, indexing and abstracting process for that manuscript.
These contributions are not considered remuneration or wages. Rather, they are intended to partially offset internet costs and digital access burdens, particularly for reviewers and editors serving from low-connectivity regions. The remaining 50% of the APC is used strictly for journal operations: platform maintenance, DOI registration, archiving, and editorial systems.
This benefit-sharing does not influence editorial decisions or review outcomes. Manuscripts must still meet all scholarly standards, and reviewers are expected to act with full independence, honesty, and transparency.
We encourage reviewers to see their role not simply as academic gatekeepers, but as stewards of truth and mentors to emerging scholars. Your work helps shape the next generation of Christian and ethically grounded scholarship.
