At Open Christian Press, we affirm that scholarly publishing is a moral trust. When errors, misrepresentations, or misconduct are discovered in a published article—whether unintentional or deliberate—it is our duty to correct the academic record promptly, transparently, and with fairness to all parties involved. We are committed to upholding the integrity of the publication process and take every concern seriously, whether raised by authors, readers, reviewers, or editors.
Retractions and corrections are issued in accordance with the best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The editorial team, in consultation with the journal's leadership, evaluates each case carefully, taking into account the nature of the issue, the intent of the author(s), and the potential consequences for the field and the reader community.
If a minor error is identified—such as a typographical mistake, mislabeling of a figure, or an unclear phrasing that does not materially affect the findings or conclusions—a correction notice may be issued. The original article will remain published, but a clearly labeled correction will be added and linked to the article page. In such cases, authors may be asked to submit a brief explanation or corrected version, which will be reviewed and approved before publication.
Corrections are not considered a penalty but rather a normal part of maintaining an honest and trustworthy academic record.
A retraction may be issued if the published work is found to contain serious errors, fabricated data, unethical practices, plagiarism, or falsified authorship. Retractions are also issued if the same work has been published elsewhere without disclosure (duplicate publication), or if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct or misrepresentation.
When a retraction is deemed necessary:
A formal retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article.
The original article will remain visible on the journal website to preserve transparency, but it will be clearly marked as retracted.
The reason for retraction will be stated clearly, whether it stems from honest error or confirmed misconduct.
All co-authors will be notified, and their responses will be considered in the editorial decision.
In cases of serious misconduct, the author’s institution may be notified, and the author(s) may be barred from submitting future manuscripts to Open Christian Press for a defined period.
We welcome and commend authors who voluntarily report errors in their published work. If you discover an oversight or mistake after publication, please contact us promptly at editor@openchristian.education. Such transparency honors the scholarly process and strengthens the trust between authors and readers.
Readers who identify concerns in a published article—whether technical, ethical, or factual—are invited to contact us confidentially. All reports are reviewed thoroughly and handled with discretion and fairness. We believe that the integrity of the academic record is a shared responsibility.
At Open Christian Press, we do not seek perfection, but we are unwavering in our commitment to honesty, accountability, and redemptive correction. The pursuit of truth includes the humility to admit and amend what is wrong.
